CBSE Cancels Class 10 Exams, Postpones Class 12 Exams in the Middle East
Decision affects CBSE-affiliated schools across seven countries as authorities monitor the regional situation.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the cancellation of Class 10 board exams and the postponement of a Class 12 examination for students studying in CBSE-affiliated schools across the Middle East.
The decision affects schools in several countries in the region, including the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Iran, where thousands of Indian expatriate students follow the CBSE curriculum.
According to official updates, the Class 10 board exams scheduled between March 7 and March 11, 2026, have been cancelled for students in the Middle East. Meanwhile, the Class 12 examination scheduled for March 7 has been postponed, with new dates expected to be announced later.
Education authorities said the move comes after reviewing the current situation in parts of the region, with the board prioritising the safety and well-being of students and school staff.
The CBSE has also advised students and parents to remain in close contact with their respective schools and monitor official announcements for further updates regarding revised schedules and evaluation methods.
Officials added that additional guidance on how results will be prepared for Class 10 students and the revised dates for postponed Class 12 exams will be communicated soon.
The decision has significant implications for Indian expatriate communities across the Gulf, where CBSE-affiliated schools serve a large student population following the Indian education system.
