The sunny beaches of Cebu just scored a global spotlight after appearing in the new Boyfriend on Demand starring Jisoo.
The series dropped all 10 episodes on March 6 on Netflix, and fans quickly noticed a familiar tropical backdrop during the opening episode.
Cebu beach appears in early scene
In the first episode, Jisoo’s character Seo Mi-rae, a webtoon producer, is shown commuting to work while dreading the day ahead. As the train ride drags on, she starts daydreaming about a past vacation in the Philippines.
The scene then cuts to a beach in Cebu, where a sign with the tourism slogan “Love the Philippines” can be seen in the background.
“Last summer in the Philippines was the best. I wish I could go swimming,” Mi-rae says in the scene before her nostalgic moment is interrupted by a toddler sitting beside her on the train.

Filmed at a luxury Cebu resort
According to the Department of Tourism Philippines, the beach sequence was filmed at Shangri-La Mactan.
The tourism agency even promoted the drama on social media, encouraging viewers to keep an eye out for Cebu’s scenic spots throughout the series.
A romance with a virtual twist
Boyfriend on Demand follows Mi-rae as she tries to escape her boring daily routine by signing up for a virtual reality dating service, allowing her to experience fantasy dates with different men.
The drama also stars Seo In-guk as her real-life love interest, with cameo appearances from actors Seo Kang-jun, Lee Soo-hyuk, and Lee Jae-wook as some of her virtual dates.
The series marks Jisoo’s latest acting project following Snowdrop and Newtopia.
