Technical issue delays UK government-arranged flight, with additional repatriation services planned.

A charter flight from Muscat to London, which failed to take off due to a technical issue, is expected to be rescheduled for later on Thursday, March 5.

The flight was originally intended to be the first government-arranged charter service organised by the Government of the United Kingdom to repatriate British holidaymakers stranded in the region. Following the technical delay, passengers were returned to their hotels while authorities worked to resolve the issue.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed that two additional government-chartered flights have been arranged to assist British nationals returning home. One of these flights is also expected to depart from Oman on Thursday, supporting continued repatriation efforts.

In addition, two commercial services operated by British Airways are scheduled to transport passengers from Muscat to London Heathrow Airport on Friday and Saturday.

Authorities stated that the rescheduling aims to ensure passenger safety after the technical problem prevented the initial departure.

The charter flight forms part of broader efforts to assist the estimated 138,000 British nationals who have registered their presence across the Middle East.

Officials are continuing to monitor flight operations and provide updated travel arrangements for affected passengers as new departure timings are confirmed.
