Civil Defence and ROP Rescue Victims in Oman Floods
Successful operations save stranded motorists in Muscat and Al Dakhiliyah; ROP Air Wing airlifts injured in Al Buraimi.
Emergency response teams across Oman have successfully executed multiple rescue operations following hazardous weather conditions, saving several individuals trapped by rising floodwaters and traffic accidents.
In the Muscat Governorate, rescue teams from the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority responded to an urgent incident in the Wilayat of Muttrah. A person had become trapped inside a vehicle submerged in a wadi stream. The team managed to extract the individual safely, who is now reported to be in good health.
Similar efforts were deployed in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, where teams in Yanqul Wilayat rescued two individuals trapped in their vehicle within a wadi stream. Both victims were successfully evacuated and are also reported to be in good health following the operation.
In a separate incident involving medical urgency, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) Air Wing conducted an urgent aerial transfer in the Al Buraimi Governorate. Two citizens who sustained injuries in a traffic accident were flown from Wadi Al-Hawasinah Hospital to Rustaq Reference Hospital to receive immediate specialized care. The operation was completed successfully, and both patients are currently under appropriate treatment.
The air wing also rescued two people in Al Suwayq Governate after their vehicle was being swept away. The individuals have been transported to a safe area and are in good health.
Following these incidents, the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority has issued a strong public advisory. Officials are urging all residents to strictly adhere to safety instructions and guidelines. The authority specifically warned against the dangers of crossing valleys (wadis) and water gatherings, emphasizing that such actions pose severe risks to life and property.
Authorities continue to monitor weather conditions and stand ready to respond to further emergencies as the region navigates the aftermath of the recent rains.
