Everything to Know About Indian Model Celina Jaitly's Divorce Case
Inside Celina Jaitly and Peter Haag Divorce: Abuse Allegations, Legal Battles and What’s Next
In a dramatic turn of events, Bollywood actor and former Miss India Celina Jaitly has filed a domestic violence and divorce case against her Austrian husband, Peter Haag, bringing deep allegations of abuse, coercion, and financial exploitation to light.
According to the petition filed in a Mumbai court on November 21, 2025, under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, Celina accuses Peter of sustained emotional, physical, sexual, verbal and financial abuse. She claims his controlling behavior — including barring her from working, misappropriating her assets, and forcing her to transfer ownership of her Mumbai home while she was in deep grief — destroyed her independence and dignity.
The complaint outlines that after marriage, Peter allegedly restricted her from pursuing her career, making her financially dependent. The allegations further include mental harassment, humiliation — reportedly, he often demeaned her by calling her a "maidservant" — and periods of deep depression which forced Celina to flee their home in Austria and return to India, leaving behind their three children, currently in her husband's custody.
Celina’s legal demands are substantial. She is seeking ₹10 lakh monthly maintenance, ₹50 crore as compensation for lost earnings and damages, restoration of her jewellery and property, and unhindered virtual or telephonic access — or ideally custody — of her three children.
Adding complexity to the case, Peter Haag had already filed for divorce earlier this year in an Austrian court, reportedly blaming Celina for the breakdown of the marriage. This cross-jurisdiction conflict — simultaneous proceedings in Austria and India — has escalated the legal battle.
In response to the flurry of media coverage and legal filings, Celina posted a heartfelt note on social media. She described being stripped of her support system — her parents, brother, and children — and expressed determination to fight for her dignity, children’s well-being, and justice. She thanked her legal team from Karanjawala & Co. and emphasized she would not back down despite the emotional turmoil.
As the legal saga unfolds, key issues stand out: conflicting divorce petitions in different countries, custody and access to children, restoration of property and financial independence, and the deep allegations of abuse. The next hearing in the Mumbai court is scheduled for December 12, 2025.
This case shines a light not only on the very personal struggle of Celina Jaitly but also on larger issues around domestic violence, cross-jurisdiction legal battles in international marriages, and the challenges faced by women seeking justice and autonomy.
