Netizens Call to Boycott 'Stranger Things' Season 5

The release of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things has triggered a wave of controversy, with many viewers publicly calling to boycott the show.

The backlash centers on comments and social media activity by cast members — most prominently Noah Schnapp — which critics say reflect pro-Zionist views in light of the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

According to media reports, a video surfaced showing Schnapp laughing and filming people holding stickers reading “Zionism Is Sexy” and “Hamas Is ISIS.”  Fans responded furiously, accusing him of indifference to violence in Gaza and demanding accountability. Some even proposed removing him from the cast or boycotting the entire final season if no action is taken. 

The criticism doesn’t stop at Schnapp. Several viewers have extended their calls for a boycott to include other cast and crew members, and in many cases, to the show as a whole. For many, tuning in to Season 5 feels like tacit support for views they find unacceptable. 

On the other side, some fans argue that the boycott is unlikely to dampen the series’ strong following. They point out that despite the controversy, the official production photo for Season 5, which includes Schnapp, went ahead, and there has been no public statement from the show’s creators or the streaming platform Netflix addressing the backlash.
