Oman Exits FIFA Arab Cup 2025
Red Warriors Win but Fall Short” — Oman’s Final Match Triumph Not Enough to Secure Knockout Stage Spot
The FIFA Arab Cup 2025 came to a bittersweet end for the Oman national football team, who secured a 2–1 victory over the Comoros national football team in their final Group B match, but were still eliminated from the tournament.
The win was powered by a first-half brace from Issam Al Sabhi. He opened the scoring in the 30th minute by capitalizing on a defensive error from the Comoros goalkeeper, then added a second goal just before halftime with a powerful header. Comoros pulled one back in the 68th minute, but Oman held on for the win.
Despite the spirited performance, Oman’s fate was sealed by a simultaneous result elsewhere: Morocco's national football team defeated Saudi Arabia's national football team 1–0, confirming Morocco’s top spot in the group and sending Saudi Arabia to the quarter-finals alongside them.
As a result, Oman — with four points (one win, one draw, one loss) — finished third in Group B and failed to progress to the knockout stage.
The outcome marks a disappointing end. Oman had shown resilience earlier: a goalless draw with ten-man Morocco had briefly kept their quarter-final hopes alive. In the end, though, even a hard-fought victory proved insufficient. The squad departs Doha with their heads held high — but also with lessons and determination for the future.
