In its latest advisory, the ROP called on the public to remain vigilant and strictly follow safety guidelines to prevent accidents during the ongoing unstable weather conditions. Authorities specifically warned against venturing into wadis or approaching water bodies, where sudden flash floods and strong currents pose serious risks.
Parents have also been advised to closely monitor children and ensure they do not play near water channels or flooded areas, as conditions can change rapidly and become dangerous.
The police further urged residents to stay indoors during periods of heavy rain and to avoid unnecessary travel unless absolutely essential. Officials emphasized that such precautions are critical in minimizing risks to life and property during adverse weather events.
The advisory comes as Oman continues to experience widespread rainfall and weather disturbances, with authorities across the country on high alert. Recent incidents, including vehicles being swept away in flooded wadis, have underscored the dangers associated with ignoring safety warnings.
Officials reiterated the importance of staying updated through official channels and complying with all safety instructions as the situation evolves.
The ROP’s advisory forms part of broader efforts to ensure public safety as Oman grapples with persistent heavy rain and the risk of flash flooding in multiple areas.
