People tend to envision success as a glorious place that turns people into celebrities, makes them look on the up side of life, and generally makes things look easy and appear glamorous. The reality is that the most difficult part starts many years before the recognition comes along. It resides in the silent hours not posted by anyone, in discipline instead of motivation, and in patience which is an excruciatingly slow pace. Walking away isn't necessarily because of talent issues; a lot of people turn down projects when they get into a rut, uncertainty, and emotional stress.
