I have observed over time, that dogs appear to have a way of finding a time when you are sitting peacefully, possibly scrolling on your phone late in the evening, and one of the dogs will reach over and place a paw on either your leg or arm, and do so without much commotion. It is something that you do not always get it when it does, but you stop and wonder what that little act could do in their lives, particularly when it is not a food or play.
