Oman Braces for Months of Above-Average Summer Heat

Oman is set to face above-average temperatures through the summer months of June, July and August 2026, according to the latest seasonal climate bulletin from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

The outlook, issued by the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre, shows that temperatures across the Sultanate are expected to stay higher than the usual average during all three months.

For June 2026, the forecast points to a strong chance of temperatures rising above normal levels across Oman. Similar weather is expected in July, with above-average heat likely across most parts of the country.

The trend is expected to continue in August, when temperatures are also forecast to stay above the long-term average. This means Oman may see a longer period of hotter-than-usual weather across the Sultanate.

Along with the heat outlook, the CAA said rainfall in June is expected to stay below average in several parts of the country. The forecast shows lower rainfall activity, especially in eastern and southeastern areas of Oman, while the rest of the Sultanate is likely to see near-average to slightly below-average rain.

The authority said the monthly seasonal bulletin is meant to give an early idea of weather trends over longer periods, helping authorities, businesses and the public prepare for expected weather conditions.

However, the CAA stressed that seasonal forecasts are broad outlooks and should not replace regular monitoring of short- and medium-term weather updates, which give more accurate information on weather systems and local conditions.

The authority urged the public and relevant sectors to keep following official weather bulletins, especially during the peak summer season when extreme heat can affect health, outdoor activities and infrastructure.

The forecast comes as Oman and much of the Arabian Peninsula continue to see hotter summers, with temperatures in some areas already close to 50°C in recent weeks.

Temperatures continued to rise across Oman on Monday, with the highest reading of 46.6°C recorded in As Sunainah, according to CAA.

The latest weather observations, covering the previous 24 hours ending on June 8, showed several locations across the Sultanate experiencing intense heat as summer conditions strengthened.

Hamra Al Droua registered the second-highest temperature at 46.5°C, followed by Al Buraimi, Dima Wat Tayeen, and Samail, each recording 46.4°C.

Other areas among the hottest locations included Al Kamil Wal Wafi at 46.1°C, Fahud at 45.4°C, Al Qabil at 45.3°C, Muqshin and Bidiyah at 45.1°C, and Ibra at 45.0°C.

Authorities have advised residents to take precautions against heat-related illnesses by staying hydrated, avoiding long exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours, and following official weather updates.
