Oman’s public transport operator halts select bus routes due to adverse weather conditions.

Oman’s national transport company, Mwasalat, has announced the temporary suspension of services on several bus routes as the country experiences unstable weather conditions.

The decision was made in coordination with relevant authorities to ensure passenger safety amid forecasts of heavy rain, strong winds, and potentially hazardous travel conditions.

According to the announcement, the affected routes include Route 6 (Al Khoud – Sultan Qaboos University – Al Khoud), Route 7 (Al Mabelah – Al Khoud – Burj Al Sahwa), and Route 10 (Al Mabelah – Seeb Souq – Burj Al Sahwa).

Mwasalat stated that the suspension is temporary and subject to ongoing review, with services expected to resume once weather conditions improve. The operator added that both city and intercity bus operations will continue to be monitored closely, and further adjustments may be made if necessary.

Despite the disruptions, ferry services—particularly the Shannah–Masirah route—are continuing to operate as scheduled, ensuring connectivity for passengers relying on maritime transport.

Passengers have been advised to stay updated through official communication channels and to contact the Mwasalat helpline for the latest information on route availability and service changes.

The move underscores the impact of ongoing weather disturbances across Oman, with authorities prioritizing public safety as conditions remain unpredictable.
