At least two people have died in Oman’s coastal town of Barka after severe weather conditions swept across the region, authorities confirmed.
According to the Oman News Agency, search and rescue teams recovered the bodies in Barka following heavy rainfall and dangerous weather that impacted parts of the South Al Batinah Governorate.
Officials said operations are still ongoing to locate another missing individual, as emergency crews continue to respond to incidents caused by the unstable weather system.
The fatalities in Barka are part of a broader impact from the storm system affecting Oman, with the total death toll from the adverse weather rising to four across the country.
Heavy rains and thunderstorms have lashed several regions, triggering flash floods in wadis and low-lying areas.
Oman’s meteorological authorities have warned that unstable atmospheric conditions are expected to persist, bringing continued rainfall, strong winds, and the risk of hail in several parts of the country.
