Oman Launches Al Wusta Winter 2026 Festival to Showcase Culture, Heritage and Sports

The Al Wusta Governorate has announced its Al Wusta Winter 2026 programme, a series of events scheduled to take place from January through March 2026 aimed at boosting tourism, celebrating local heritage, and supporting economic activity in the region.

Sheikh Ahmed Muslim Al Kathiri, Governor of Al Wusta, said the festival is part of ongoing efforts to highlight the governorate’s rich cultural, tourism and economic potential while also providing opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to engage with visitors and communities.

Diverse Activities Planned Across the Governorate

The Al Wusta Winter 2026 programme features a wide range of cultural, entertainment and sports activities, along with heritage events, traditional markets and artistic performances designed to appeal to residents and visitors alike.

Among the planned highlights are camel racing, a Muzayna (camel beauty pageant), shooting competitions, and artistic concerts — all intended to showcase the local culture and traditions of the region.

Supporting Local Culture and Economy

Officials say the festival will help promote the authentic Omani identity of the Al Wusta Governorate while contributing to the sustainable development of its tourism sector. Events are scheduled to take place in various wilayats (administrative districts) throughout the governorate, offering unique experiences in each location.

The integrated timeline of activities aims to attract visitors from within Oman as well as from neighbouring regions, helping to generate economic activity throughout the winter season.

The announcement of the Al Wusta Winter 2026 events reflects Oman’s broader strategy to expand its appeal as a year-round destination, encouraging cultural exchange and community engagement through festive and sporting occasions.
