The Sultanate of Oman has officially announced that Eid Al Adha will commence on Friday, June 6, 2025, following the confirmed sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent moon on the evening of Tuesday, May 27.

This marks Wednesday, May 28, as the first day of Dhul Hijjah 1446 AH.

Extended Five-Day Holiday for Oman Residents

In accordance with Royal Decree No. 88/2022, Oman will observe public holidays from Dhul Hijjah 9 to 12. Given that the first day of Eid falls on a Friday, an additional compensatory day off has been granted, resulting in a five-day holiday from Thursday, June 5, to Monday, June 9, 2025.

Significance of Eid Al Adha

Eid Al Adha, also known as the "Feast of Sacrifice," is one of the most important festivals in the Islamic calendar. It commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. The festival involves special prayers, charitable acts, and the ritual sacrifice of animals, symbolizing devotion and generosity.
