Omani cinema was recognised at the inaugural Sumer International Festival for Short Films in Baghdad, Iraq.

Among over 100 entries from various Arab countries, two Omani films stood out, securing prestigious awards and highlighting the nation's growing presence in the regional film industry.

"Dry Leaves", directed by Dalila Al-Deriyah and produced by the Omani Cinema Society, clinched the third prize. The film's compelling narrative and artistic execution resonated with audiences and judges alike, marking a notable achievement for Omani storytelling.

In the documentary category, "You Will Not Dive Alone" by director Fahad Al-Maimani received the Best Documentary Film Award.
