The Omani Ministry of Labour has announced new rules making it easier for expatriates to switch jobs. If an employer renews a work permit but fails to upload a valid contract, the worker can move to a new company after 30 days.

Why the Change?

Officials say the rule is designed to protect worker rights and boost transparency in the labour market. It’s also part of broader labour reforms aimed at creating a fairer system for everyone.

Employers, Take Note

Companies are being urged to register employment contracts on time. If they don’t, they risk losing staff who’ll be free to transfer to another employer under the new rule.
