The Omani Ministry of Interior has announced official fees for submitting rental dispute requests to specialised resolution committees across the Sultanate, under Ministerial Decision No. 124/2025.
The new fee structure, published in the Official Gazette and based on Royal Decree No. 6/89, aims to clarify costs for landlords, tenants and legal representatives involved in rental disputes involving residential, commercial and industrial properties.
The decision, which has the approval of the Council of Ministers and is designed to serve the public interest, sets out a tiered fee schedule that takes into account the nature and value of each dispute. The regulation took effect the day after it was published in Gazette Issue No. 1369 on 4 January 2026.
Under the new fee regime:
- Non-financial requests are subject to a fee of OMR 10 per submission.
- Financial claims up to OMR 50,000 also carry an OMR 10 fee, while claims between OMR 50,001 and OMR 100,000 are charged OMR 50.
- Higher-value disputes between OMR 100,001 and OMR 500,000 will incur an OMR 200 fee, and amounts exceeding OMR 500,000 will be assessed an OMR 500 charge.
- Cases involving multiple claims in a single dispute will be assessed based on the total value of those claims, with a combined fee of OMR 50.
- Requests for interpretation of committee decisions and reopening closed cases each carry an OMR 10 fee.
Officials said the structured approach is intended to make the costs more predictable and transparent for individuals and businesses alike, reinforcing fairness in the rental dispute process. The decision also reflects broader efforts within Oman’s legal and administrative frameworks to strengthen dispute resolution mechanisms and improve service efficiency.
The move follows recent national reforms aimed at modernising dispute resolution across various legal domains, including digital platforms for electronic filing and faster case handling, as authorities seek to enhance ease of doing business and legal accessibility for both domestic and foreign investors.
Landlords, tenants and legal professionals are advised to familiarise themselves with the new fee schedule ahead of initiating or defending rental dispute requests in committees across Oman.
