ROP Issues Safety Guidelines for Upcoming Eid Al Fitr 2026 Holidays

Authorities in Oman have issued a public safety advisory ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Fitr holidays, urging citizens and residents to follow traffic rules and act responsibly during the busy festive period.

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) said the days leading up to Eid typically see increased traffic congestion and heavy activity in markets, as people prepare for the holiday celebrations. Officials therefore called on the public to exercise caution while travelling and moving around the country.

According to the ROP, the lead-up to Eid often results in crowded roads due to shopping trips, family visits and holiday travel. Authorities urged motorists to remain attentive and follow traffic regulations to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of everyone on the road.

Drivers were specifically advised to remain alert while travelling and avoid behaviour that could endanger others.

Police also warned against reckless actions that can disturb public order or threaten safety during celebrations. These include racing, drifting, showing off while driving, and installing non-compliant exhaust systems on vehicles.

Such activities, authorities stressed, can create dangerous situations for other road users and are considered violations of traffic regulations.

The ROP emphasised that maintaining safety during the holiday period requires cooperation from the community. Residents were encouraged to follow official guidance, respect traffic laws and avoid behaviours that could harm others or disrupt the festive atmosphere.

With Eid expected to bring large gatherings, shopping activity and increased travel across Oman, authorities said responsible conduct will help ensure a safe and peaceful holiday for everyone.
