Rustaq Winter Festival 2026 Kicks Off in Al Batinah

The Rustaq Winter Festival 2026 has officially launched at the iconic Rustaq Castle in the South Al Batinah Governorate, bringing a blend of cultural, artistic, and community-oriented activities to the historic site.

Organised by the Office of the Governor of South Al Batinah in collaboration with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the festival runs through 7 February 2026 and has already drawn significant crowds from across the region.

The festival’s programme features a wide range of heritage and cultural performances, including folk music and dance, theatrical displays, and artistic operettas that reflect Oman’s rich traditions in contemporary styles. Audiences can immerse themselves in poetry readings and cultural seminars exploring Rustaq’s historical legacy and importance over the ages.

Family-friendly offerings are an integral part of the event, with interactive activities for children, recreational competitions, and talent showcases designed to inspire creativity and reinforce a sense of national identity among younger participants.

In addition to performances, the festival hosts an exhibition spotlighting home-based businesses and local artisans, providing a platform to support entrepreneurial families and highlight authentic Omani crafts while contributing to the local economy.

Officials say the Rustaq Winter Festival aims to promote the cultural, touristic and economic assets of the governorate, positioning Rustaq Castle not just as a heritage site but as a lively hub for community engagement and winter season tourism.

The pleasant winter climate in the region has made this season a popular time for families to enjoy outdoor events, picnics and social gatherings, further enhancing the festival’s appeal as a destination for visitors of all ages.
