Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) has achieved a major academic milestone by securing third place in the 2025 Arab Ranking for Universities.

The ranking, managed by the Association of Arab Universities (AArU) in Amman, Jordan, in partnership with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils, highlights excellence in higher education across the Arab region.

This year’s ranking, distinguished by its objective and automated data-driven evaluation system, assesses institutions based on four key pillars: quality of education and learning, scientific research productivity, creativity and innovation, and international and local cooperation paired with community service

Notably, the 2025 edition marks SQU’s first participation in this regional classification. Despite this being its debut, the university stood out among 236 Arab universities from 20 countries, earning the third-highest position overall, a testament to SQU’s rapid advancement on the regional academic stage.

The achievement aligns with Sultan Qaboos University’s commitment to excellence in education and research, reinforcing its status as a leading institution in the Arab world.
