The Sultanate of Oman is grappling with record-breaking summer temperatures, as meteorological stations across the country report dangerously high readings amid a relentless heatwave. The scorching conditions have raised concerns over public safety, with authorities urging residents to take precautions.
Oman Records Exceptionally High Temperatures
According to data from the Civil Aviation Authority’s meteorological stations, the wilayat of Al Rustaq recorded the highest temperature over a 24-hour period, reaching a blistering 47.5°C. Other regions closely followed, with Fahud at 47.2°C and Dama Wa Al Tayeen at 47.0°C.
The extreme heat has spread across multiple governorates, pushing mercury levels well above the mid-40s. Al Amerat and As Sunainah both registered 46.9°C, while Bidbid and Bidiyah recorded 46.7°C. Other areas experiencing severe heat include:
- Al Qabil and Samail: 46.6°C
- Al Awabi and Saham: 46.5°C

With temperatures consistently crossing 47°C, Oman’s authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure public awareness and safety. The extreme heat poses risks such as heatstroke, dehydration, and other heat-related illnesses, prompting officials to issue advisories for residents and outdoor workers.
