The Black Desert Cobra Has Been Discovered in Oman

A black cobra has been spotted in Oman for the first time, according to the Environment Authority.
The authority officially recorded the first documentation; the black cobra was found because of the collaboration between the Institute of Evolutionary Biology in Spain and Nizwa University.
With the discovery of the black cobra, the number of officially documented snake species in Oman has reached 22.
The black desert cobra (Walterinnesia aegyptia) is known as one of the highly venomous snakes in the Middle East. The venom toxins of the black cobra are considered to be similar to the king cobra's.
The findings about the discovery were published in the scientific journal ZOOTAXA.
