The Story Behind Ben & Jerry's Pro-Palestine Ice Cream

An image of a Ben & Jerry's ice cream bucket has gone viral, featuring a pro-Palestinian design.

The ice cream tub features a group of people, each holding a slice of watermelon, that symbolizes Palestine.

The sticker reads, "From the River to the Sea", which is a slogan that has been part of pro-Palestinian marches that have been happening against the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza.

The brand has not shared these images on their own social media, therefore, it is unknown if these images are genuine or not.

Recently, another viral image circulating on social media claimed that Ben & Jerry’s has introduced a new ice cream flavor called “Free Palestine.”

These images are going viral after the co-founder of the ice cream brand was arrested at a US Senate hearing.

However, there is no official record of such a product on Ben & Jerry’s website or in any press releases as of May 2025.

No credible media outlets reported the launch of this flavor, and the company has not made any announcements regarding it on their verified social media channels. Fact-checkers have noted inconsistencies in the viral image, suggesting that it may have been digitally altered.

This incident comes amid ongoing tensions between Ben & Jerry’s and its parent company, Unilever. In recent months, Ben & Jerry’s has accused Unilever of attempting to silence its support for Palestinian rights.

The ice cream maker filed a lawsuit alleging that Unilever breached a previous agreement by interfering with its social mission initiatives, including statements supporting Palestinian refugees and calls for a ceasefire in Gaza.
