Truck Movement Curbed in Oman During Ramadan 2026

As the Holy Month of Ramadan begins, Omani authorities have announced restrictions on the movement of trucks across key roadways in the Sultanate to help reduce traffic congestion during peak hours.

Under the decision, the movement of trucks will be limited on main routes from Sunday to Thursday during the following times:

  • Morning hours: 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
  • Afternoon hours: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

In addition, on Saturdays, truck movement will be halted on major roads from 6 p.m. to midnight, affecting key stretches including Sultan Qaboos Road — from the Al Qurum intersection in Muscat Governorate to the Khatmat Milaha Border Post in North Al Batinah Governorate — as well as Sultan Thuwayni Said Road and other principal thoroughfares within Muscat Governorate.

The restrictions aim to improve traffic flow and safety during Ramadan, a period marked by altered daily routines and increased movement before and after fasting hours. Authorities expect the measures to help ease congestion during the busiest parts of the day when people travel for work, errands and preparing for iftar.

Drivers and logistics operators are advised to adjust their schedules accordingly and comply with the new curbs to support smoother traffic conditions throughout the holy month.
