The 9th Annual Al Bashayer Camel Racing Festival is set to begin on February 2, 2026, bringing six days of thrilling camel racing and cultural celebration to the Al Bashayer Camel Racetrack in the Wilayat of Adam, A’Dakhiliyah Governorate.
Organised under the patronage of Oman’s leadership, the festival enjoys the support of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, who continues to champion camel racing as a treasured part of Omani heritage. The event draws broad participation from camel owners and trainers across the Sultanate and GCC countries, making it not only a sporting spectacle but also a vibrant social and economic gathering.
In remarks to the Oman News Agency, HH Sayyid Asa’ad bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, highlighted the festival’s role in preserving the purebred Omani camel and fostering unity among communities.

Organisers are focused on enhancing the festival with expanded race rounds, increased participation, larger prize offerings and a broader program of accompanying events.
The Al Bashayer Festival also aligns with long-standing efforts to modernise the racetrack, ensuring it offers comfort, safety and top-tier facilities for both camels and participants from arrival through to the finish line.
As one of the region’s most anticipated traditional sporting events, the 2026 edition of Al Bashayer promises to celebrate Omani culture, bring together racing enthusiasts from across the Gulf, and spotlight a heritage sport deeply rooted in Arabian Peninsula traditions.
