Oman Customs thwarted an attempt to smuggle over 25 kilograms of marijuana and large quantities of psychotropic pills into the country.
"Muscat International Airport Customs stopped a traveler's attempt to bring in more than 25 kilograms of marijuana and quantities of psychotropic pills, which he professionally concealed in sealed molds, which were hidden inside bags of oats and barley," the Directorate General of Customs said.
In a similar case, the customs also thwarted the smuggling of crystal narcotic substances, which the accused melted and hid inside a piece of cloth.
The Directorate General of Customs was formed for the purpose of carrying out customs processes and security supervision on imports and exports.
Furthermore, it involves enforcing agreed-upon laws and regulations, collecting customs taxes and charges, fighting smuggling, and preventing the entry of illegal products.
