An Omani citizen and two Egyptian residents have been arrested in Muscat on charges of human trafficking, according to local media reports.

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) confirmed that the arrests were made by the Muscat Governorate Police Command, in coordination with the Special Taskforce Police Command. The arrests come as part of the Sultanate’s ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable individuals.

In a statement, the ROP said:

“Muscat Governorate Police Command, in cooperation with the Special Taskforce Police Command, arrested three people, including an Omani citizen and two Egyptian nationals, on charges of human trafficking.”

The suspects have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation.

Under Oman’s Anti-Human Trafficking Law, those found guilty face between 7 to 15 years in prison and fines of up to OMR 100,000. The law aims to crack down on trafficking networks and ensure justice for victims.
