Oman Police Arrest 47 Expats for Immoral Behavior

Forty-seven expatriate women from different nationalities have been arrested in Oman for engaging in immoral activities, according to a statement released by the Royal Oman Police on Tuesday.

The group includes 21 Egyptian women, 10 Iranian, 8 Pakistani, 4 Thai, 2 Uzbek, and 2 Moroccan nationals. Authorities did not disclose specific details about the nature of the activities but confirmed they fall under violations of public morality laws.

Legal action is currently underway, and all individuals have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation and trial.

Oman Police Arrest 47 Expats for Immoral Behavior

Under Article 25 of the Omani Penal Code, any person caught committing acts deemed indecent in public, whether through behavior or speech, can face jail time ranging from 10 days to 3 months. Offenders may also be fined between 100 and 300 Omani riyals, or face both penalties.

The arrests come amid ongoing efforts by Omani authorities to uphold public decency laws and maintain social order.
