H.H. Sayid Theyazzin Attends Omani Youth Day Celebrations at Sohar Fort

Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, attended the Omani Youth Day celebration at Sohar Fort in the North Al Batinah Governorate, bringing focus to the nation’s youth and their role in Oman’s development.

The ceremony, held under the theme “Extension”, celebrated Oman’s cultural legacy while shining a spotlight on youth creativity, intellectual contributions and innovative projects spearheaded by young Omanis.

During the event, attendees toured a dedicated immersive experience showcasing youth achievements—from art installations and multimedia pieces to project displays—symbolising the deep link between Oman’s heritage and the dynamic ambitions of its younger generation.

A major highlight of the occasion was the announcement of a new branch of the Youth Centre in the Wilayat of Sohar, marking a significant step in widening the reach of youth-development programmes across the Sultanate.

Alongside this expansion, the Youth Centre signed seven cooperation and partnership agreements with private-sector entities, including Vale Oman, Oman India Fertiliser Company (OMIFCO), and OQ Group. These partnerships will support infrastructure such as a youth-centre branch in Sohar and a conference & exhibition centre in Sur.

The evening also recognised outstanding achievements among young Omanis through the 2025 Youth Excellence Awards. Winners spanned categories such as digital media, environmental entrepreneurship, social empowerment and the digital economy. The recipients included Hajer Jumaa Al Amri for her podcast 'Kawalees Aqleeya' or 'Mental Backstage', and the 'Nabd Sohar' or 'The Pulse of Sohar' media team for their 'Inspiring Paths' initiative.

Through this landmark event at Sohar Fort, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth reinforced its commitment to enabling youth leadership, creativity and meaningful participation. By combining a heritage venue, a visionary theme, new infrastructure, and private-sector collaboration, the celebration sent a clear message: Oman sees its youth not just as the future, but as active partners in shaping the present.
