IPL 2025 Suspended for a Week Due to Indo-Pak Tensions

The Indian cricket board suspended the Indian Premier League (IPL) for one week on Friday, May 9 because of the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan

The tournament has been suspended two weeks ahead of the end of the season.

The announcement came after the Pakistan Cricket Board announced that the Pakistan Super League season will be concluded in the UAE.

Tension escalated quickly after India's missile strikes on Wednesday, May 7, on nine sites in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and Pakistan, which India calls Operation Sindhoor.

The Indian cricket board are concerned about the safety of the players and whether it is appropriate to continue the tournament during the ongoing conflict.

Updates regarding the new schedule and venues will be provided soon.

The process for facilitating the departure of foreign players has begun, and a number of English players have already left the country, according to the Press Association.

Thursday's IPL match was stopped midway because of the escalation of tensions in India's border regions. The cricket board attributed the disruption to a power failure at the stadium in the hill city of Dharamsala.
