The Sultanate of Oman has strongly condemned the targeting of energy facilities in Iran’s South Pars gas field, calling the incident a dangerous escalation with far-reaching consequences for regional security and global energy supplies.
In an official statement, Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the attack on infrastructure in South Pars gas field, describing it as a clear violation of international laws and norms. The ministry stressed that targeting such facilities poses a direct threat not only to Iran but to the broader stability of the region and the global energy market.
Oman further underscored the importance of protecting civilian infrastructure, urging all parties involved in the conflict to refrain from attacks on critical sites. Officials warned that continued strikes on energy installations could intensify the crisis and disrupt essential supplies worldwide.
The ministry called for an immediate halt to hostilities and emphasized the need for dialogue and diplomatic solutions to resolve the escalating conflict. It reiterated that adherence to international law remains key to ensuring long-term peace, security, and stability in the region.
The condemnation comes amid a broader escalation in the ongoing regional conflict, where energy infrastructure has increasingly become a target. The South Pars field—shared between Iran and Qatar—is the world’s largest natural gas field, making any disruption a major concern for global markets.
Analysts warn that attacks on such critical facilities could have ripple effects across global energy supply chains, especially as tensions continue to rise across the Gulf. Oman’s response reflects growing regional concern over the targeting of vital infrastructure and the potential for further destabilisation.
