Tourism Ministry Signs Contracts Worth OMR100M for Major Projects in Oman

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism of Oman has announced the signing of 36 usufruct contracts during the period from January to September 2025, valued at approximately OMR 100 million (Omani rials) to develop tourism projects across the Sultanate.

These contracts span multiple governorates, reflecting the Ministry’s strategy to disseminate investment across regions, bolster the hotel and resort sector, and generate local economic and employment benefits.

In the Muscat Governorate alone, four contracts were signed, including the construction of two tourist camps in the Wilayat of Quriyat, as well as a three-star resort and an integrated tourism complex in the Wilayat of Bausher.

In Dhofar Governorate, two key contracts were secured: one for the restoration of an existing tourist resort in the Wilayat of Rakhyout, and another for the establishment of a fully integrated tourism complex.

Al Dakhiliyah Governorate saw 10 contracts covering a variety of tourism infrastructure, ranging from three-star hotels and resorts of differing categories to a tourist camp at Jebel Shams and a one-star hotel on Jabal AlAkhdar.

In South Al Batinah, four contracts were signed for hotels, resorts and a tourist camp. Al Buraimi secured one contract for an integrated tourist resort. The largest number of contracts (11) went to North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, primarily focused on projects in the Wilayat of Bidiyah, including tourist camps and three-star hotels, plus a commercial-tourism investment in the Wilayat of Ibra.

In South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, three contracts were signed in the Wilayats of Sur and Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan for a resort and tourist camps. Moreover, Musandam Governorate signed one contract for an integrated tourism complex in the Wilayat of Khasab.

According to the Ministry, these contracts support an investment programme aimed at delivering economic and social benefits, including job creation for local communities, enhancing the role of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the tourism value chain, augmenting hotel capacity, and elevating service quality in line with sustainable tourism-development goals.

The plan underlines Oman’s ambition to leverage its natural, cultural and heritage diversity to create integrated visitor experiences across various landscapes, from the mountains of Jebel Shams and Jabal Al-Akhdar, to the coastal and desert regions of Sharqiyah and Musandam.

By committing OMR 100 million across 36 projects, the Ministry signals confidence in the tourism sector’s potential as a key pillar of economic diversification, aligning with the national vision to expand investment, support local business, and enhance tourist infrastructure. Building greater accommodation capacity and more diverse offerings will help Oman compete regionally and attract global travellers.
