The Earthquake Monitoring Centre (EMC) at Oman's Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) reported that a 4.1-magnitude earthquake occurred in Duqm at 7:55 a.m. on Sunday, February 19th.

The EMC said the tremor was detected near the town, which is 450km southwest of Muscat.

The announcement came after several citizens reported tremors of an earthquake close to the town of Duqm, known for its deep sea port on the Arabian Sea.

However, there were no injuries or damage to property reported, according to the Royal Oman Police (ROP).

Seismic events measuring 3.5 to 5.5 are felt, but rarely cause damage.
