Oman's Population Exceeds Five Million

The population of the Sultanate of Oman has crossed the five million mark, according to the data of the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The NCSI's population clock indicated that the total population of locals and residents reached 5,000,772 on Wednesday. Omanis constituted 57.62% of the population, which is 2,881,313 locals, while residents constituted 42.38 % of the population, which is 2,119,459 residents. 

The electronic census of population, housing and establishments announced its results in December 2020, which indicated that the population of the country had increased by 61% in 10 years, compared to the 2010 census. 

Minister of Housing and Urban Planning His Excellency Dr. Khalfan Al Shuaili shared that the population of Oman is expected to reach 8 million b 2040.
