A monument honouring the Chinese explorer Zheng He was unveiled on Tuesday, May 30th in the Dhofar governate, which depicts Zheng He's flagship the Treasure Ship.

The monument is a collaboration project between Dhofar Municipality and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Oman. The monument is located at a seafront site in the governate.

The construction of the monument began in November 2022 and finished in May 2023 and it is completely 3D-printed.

The monument is a new addition to Salalah's cultural landscape and emphasizes Oman's significant role in historical trade in the Indian Ocean region.

An event was also organized in Salalah to celebrate the friendship between Oman and China, which showcased presentations on the bilateral ties between the two countries and a Chinese-Omani artistic performance.
