Omani documentary film 'Bawabat Al Jumaa' ('Friday Gate') won the 'Best Documentary Award' in the joint Arab-European TV production called 'Between the Banks'.

The documentary was written by director Abeer Nasser Al Hijri and it topped the 13 productions from Arab and European TV organizations. 

The film highlights the routine events at Souq Nizwa on a Friday, which include buying and selling, auctioning at the livestock market, artisanal activities, and sharing of popular folklore.

Director Al Hijri shared that the joint Arab-European TV production of the documentary series is titled 'Bazaars and People', which focuses on the stories of different kinds of people in the market.

She explained that Nizwa was chosen as the center point of the documentary to highlight the market's importance as a social and economic hotspot.
