Pakistan and Bangladesh just shook hands on a new visa waiver agreement. Holders of diplomatic and official passports from both countries can now travel without a visa, making official trips faster and smoother.
More Than Just Travel
The deal didn’t stop at visas. The two South Asian neighbors also signed agreements covering trade, culture, media, and academic exchanges. Both governments say these moves are meant to lock in stronger cooperation across multiple fields.
The Big Visit
The signing happened during Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s visit to Bangladesh. Dar, alongside Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, attended official receptions and met a wide range of Bangladeshi leaders — from government advisers and party leaders to academics, artists, and journalists.
Building Bridges
According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the agreements aim to boost ties in economics, training diplomats, cultural projects, and even media collaborations. Dar emphasized that relations between the two countries are rooted in shared traditions and Islamic heritage, while also pointing to a “forward-looking” relationship for the future.
