Two People Arrested in Oman for Assaulting an Expat

North Al Sharqiyah Governorate Police Command has arrested two people on charges of assaulting and beating an expat of Asian nationality.

The incident gained widespread attention on social media and in response to the mounting concerns, the Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC) confirmed it is monitoring the assault incident.

The OHRC, in coordination with relevant authorities, has taken legal measures against the accused.

"Oman Human Rights Commission monitored what was circulated on social media sites regarding the incident of assault on a resident by two people, and as the committee, in coordination with the competent authorities, continues to take legal measures against the perpetrators," the OHRC said in a statement.

OHRC said that every citizen and resident in Oman has the right to a life of safety and dignity, away from any harm or assault.

The Sultanate guaranteed the right to litigation and to resort to the competent authorities in confirmation of this, OHRC added.
