On Sunday, Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi hosted a key meeting in Muscat with his German counterpart. Their high-level talks focused on the unfolding regional crisis, including Israel’s attacks on strategic Iranian infrastructure that have reportedly resulted in numerous casualties, and the ongoing violence in Gaza.

Both ministers stressed the urgent need to uphold international law, respect national sovereignty, and advance diplomatic solutions, particularly the two-state solution, as the only viable path to long-term regional stability. They also called for greater international recognition of the Palestinian state.

In addition to this meeting, Al Busaidi held a series of phone calls with foreign ministers from allied and friendly nations, urging coordinated political and legal pressure to halt Israel’s military operations. Oman’s position remains firm: diplomacy, not warfare, is the only way forward.

These actions reflect Oman’s longstanding role as a neutral mediator and a key regional player in peacebuilding. The Sultanate continues to push for calm and dialogue while warning against further escalation that could destabilize the entire region and beyond.

Al Busaidi’s conversations with his Russian and Chinese counterparts further reinforced this message. During the calls, all sides agreed that Israel’s actions breach the UN Charter and undermine peace initiatives, including U.S.–Iran negotiations aimed at curbing nuclear threats.

The Russian Foreign Minister praised Oman’s role in de-escalation, while China’s Wang Yi condemned the Israeli strikes as a clear violation of international law. He also backed Oman’s approach and stressed that the nuclear issue must remain within the bounds of diplomacy.

Oman continues to call for an immediate ceasefire and a return to negotiations, warning that a military solution would be disastrous for the region and the world. The Sultanate remains committed to supporting peace, stability, and multilateral cooperation, values that lie at the heart of its foreign policy.
