Trump Orders US Strikes on Iran After Israeli Attacks

The United States has launched air strikes on Iran following earlier Israeli attacks, prompting Tehran to vow retaliation and escalating fears of a broader regional conflict.

Iran accused the US and Israel of targeting “defence infrastructures and civilian sites in various cities of our country, in a gross violation of Iran’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty.”

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tehran said responding was “Iran’s legal and legitimate right in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter” and warned that its armed forces “will not hesitate to defend our beloved homeland with all their might”.

Iran said the strikes came despite ongoing diplomatic engagement, adding: “We once again entered into negotiations … to prove the legitimacy of the Iranian nation and to demonstrate the illegitimacy of any excuse for aggression.”

Calling for international action, Tehran said the UN Security Council had a “grave duty … to take immediate action” and urged member states to “firmly condemn this act of aggression”. It added that “history is proof that Iranians have never surrendered to foreign aggression” and warned that “the response of the Iranian nation will be decisive and decisive and will make the aggressors regret their criminal act”.

UAE steps up precautionary measures

In the UAE, the UAE Ministry of Interior said it is closely monitoring regional developments and remains at the highest level of readiness.

The ministry affirmed that the safety of citizens, residents and visitors is its top priority and that it is taking all necessary precautionary measures in coordination with relevant authorities. It said the public will be informed of developments and required measures in a timely manner.

Meanwhile, the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority announced the temporary partial closure of UAE airspace as an “exceptional precautionary measure aimed at ensuring the safety of flights and aircrews, and safeguarding the UAE’s territory”.

The authority said the decision followed a comprehensive assessment of security and operational risks and was taken in full coordination with national and international authorities.

Passengers have been advised to contact their airlines for updates on flight schedules, with airlines instructed to provide accommodation and assistance in coordination with local authorities. The GCAA stressed that the safety of passengers and flight crews remains its top priority.

The unfolding developments mark a sharp escalation in tensions between Washington, Tehran and Tel Aviv, raising concerns of wider instability across the Middle East.
