All Six Crew Members Confirmed Dead After US Military Plane Crash in Iraq

All six crew members aboard a US military aircraft that crashed in western Iraq have been confirmed dead, according to an update from US Central Command on Friday.

The aircraft involved was a Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker, a tanker plane used to refuel other aircraft during flight.

US Central Command had earlier reported that four of the six crew members had died, but later confirmed that all six personnel on board were killed in the crash.

No hostile or friendly fire involved

In its latest statement, the command also clarified that the incident was not caused by hostile fire or friendly fire, ruling out the possibility that the aircraft had been shot down.

Officials have not yet provided further details about what may have caused the crash, and investigations are ongoing.

The KC-135 Stratotanker is widely used by the US military to extend the range and endurance of fighter jets and other aircraft by refuelling them mid-air during operations.
