The story of this Indian male expatriate is truly a Valentine's Day tragedy! Abdullah Wahid, aged 28,  was swept away in a wadi in Ibra on Monday, Feb. 12 after the heavy rainfall in Oman

Wahid passed away just days before his engagement, which was scheduled to take place on Friday, Feb. 16 in Kerala, India.

Wahid worked as a sales executive at a private firm in Oman. He was returning from Sur to Muscat when the tragic accident occurred.

His colleague, an Omani, managed to escape and survived, however, Wahid was swept away before rescue teams could help him.

His family in the Alleppey district of Kerala were eagerly awaiting him for his engagement celebrations, however, their happiness and excitement turned into grief and mourning upon receiving the news of their son's demise.

A representative of the Kerala Muslim Culture Centre (KMCC) in Muscat, which facilitated Wahid's repatriation, Mohammed Vanimel said, "We are heartbroken over the tragic accident that claimed the life of a young man on the brink of embarking on a new journey of life."

Just a few days before Valentine's Day, Wahid lost his life and was unable to embark on this exciting, new stage of his life.

Various accidents were caused by the heavy rainfall in Oman because of which authorities have warned the public to remain away from wadis during these harsh weather conditions.
