Today marks the National Winnie the Pooh Day in the United Kingdom which is a day dedicated to celebrating the bear and the author of the Winnie the Pooh stories, A. A. Milne.
Every year on January 18, fans celebrate the special occasion with different activities, such as teddy bears’ picnics, going on a tour to Pooh Corner in the southeast of England, and watching the series in movie theaters while eating the famous honey sandwiches.
Winnie the Pooh was originally created in 1926 with the characters being based on the toys of the authors’ son and it was later turned into a series of Disney films.
A.A. Milne wrote four books for the series which are: When We Were Very Young (1924), Winnie-the-Pooh (1926), Now We Are Six (1927), and The House At Pooh Corner (1928).
