Interactive Art Program 'Growth' Kicks Off in Muscat on Feb 14th

The Austrian Embassy in Oman organizes a cross-cultural initiative through the interactive art exhibition, titled 'Growth,' today, February 14th, at Stal Gallery in Muscat.

The inauguration of the exhibition will take place today, February 14th, at 7 p.m., while Art Talk will kick off tomorrow, February 15th, at 6 p.m.

The initiative aims to stimulate a dialogue between Oman and Austria, on the occasion of the celebration of 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The exhibition features artworks of Austrian artists Elisabeth Gschiel, Marlene Gollner, Walter Kratner, and Marjan Habibian, who is also the exhibition curator.

The four artists present their works by using the tools of different forms of art, through which you can recognise that they understand "growth" as an aesthetic transformation process.

Gschiel sew her motifs with a sewing machine and uses it as an art tool, while Gollner works mainly with plant and silk fibres to make body works, sculptures, and vessels.

Kratner's work is about standardized portraits which have been retouched with graphite and oil, while Habibian's drawings and paintings are interspersed with painterly elements and also contain influences from Persian ornamentation.
