PM Modi Hails Indian Diaspora in Oman for Preserving History

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the Indian diaspora in Oman for their dedication to preserving centuries of historical ties and cultural exchange between India and Oman.

His remarks came during the 116th episode of Mann Ki Baat, a monthly radio program aimed at fostering dialogue with Indian citizens where he underscored the pride India takes in its citizens abroad.

PM Modi highlighted a unique project in Oman, spearheaded by the Indian Embassy in collaboration with the National Archives of India, to safeguard the legacy of Indian families who have lived in Oman for generations. The initiative has so far collected thousands of historical documents, some dating back to 1838, including letters, ledgers, and diaries.

“These documents narrate a poignant tale of the lives these families led, their challenges and triumphs, and the relationships they built with Omanis,” Modi shared during the broadcast.
