Muscat Airport Denies Limiting Private Jet Flights After Online Message Circulates

Oman’s main airport says it continues to welcome private jets despite reports claiming business aviation flights were being restricted.

Muscat Airport Denies Limiting Private Jet Flights After Online Message Circulates

Muscat International Airport has denied reports that it is limiting private jet operations after a message circulating online suggested otherwise.

In a statement, the airport said it did not issue a notice asking private jet operators to avoid scheduling additional flights in order to prioritise government and commercial traffic.

“Muscat International Airport continues to welcome and facilitate private jet flights and business aviation operations,” the airport said.

Message circulating among aviation executives

The issue surfaced after Financial Times reported on a message shared by some charter executives online.

The document, which appeared with the Oman Airports logo, allegedly asked airlines and operators to cancel flight slots outside the approved seasonal schedule and avoid submitting non-approved flight requests until further notice.

The message, dated March 6 and also seen by Reuters, said flight movements were restricted to approved seasonal scheduled services only due to ongoing crisis management measures at the airport.

Airport rejects authenticity of the message

Despite the circulation of the document, Muscat International Airport said the message was not sent by the airport and reiterated that private jets and business aviation flights are still being accommodated.

Officials added that airport operations continue to run normally while authorities manage the current situation.
