Oman Air Reduces On-Board Plastic Usage With New Initiative

Oman Air continues to reduce the usage of plastic on board as part of its commitment to sustainability

As part of its sustainability initiative, Oman Air has replaced the plastic wrap for its blankets and mattresses in the premium cabins with a more eco-friendly alternative, which is paper-based.

The blankets and mattresses with be wrapped with a slim, branded paper band, which will lead to the reduction of the usage of 21.6 tonnes of plastic per year.

This step will help with the airline's initiative to phase out the use of single-use plastic on board.

In addition to this latest step, the airline has also eliminated the plastic sleeves used to load cutlery.

Plastic water bottles and cups have been reduced by 50% on certain routes of the airline.

Furthermore, the airline has replaced 80% of its in-flight service carts with lightweight alternatives, which will boost fuel efficiency.

Oman Air's environment-friendly initiatives will help the airline reduce its negative impacts on the environment and provide more sustainable aviation practices.
