Oman Opens Hot Air Balloon Destination

Oman's tourism campaign is expected to draw foreign visitors and boost tourism in the country with various new activities. Residents can now expect hot air balloon rides as the Royal Balloon Company was permitted to begin its activities.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) stated that approving the project is a major step toward economic diversification.

The Air Balloons scheme is a collaboration between an Omani company and a Turkish company specializing in hot air balloons in four different countries according to Al Faisal Mohammed Al Rashdi, one of the owners of Royal Balloons Company.

“The company owns a fleet of at least 22 balloons in these countries.” Al Rashdi stated.

The official also added: “The balloon ride will take place between 40 and 60 minutes during sunrise and will cost OMR80 per person. It will reach a height of 600 metres above the sea level.

“But there are discounts for Omanis and residents, starting from OMR59 per person,” he added.
