Oman Air Launches Muscat-Tashkent Flights, Expanding Reach

Oman Air has announced the launch of direct flights between Muscat and Tashkent, marking its official entry into the Central Asian market as part of its international expansion strategy.

The new Muscat–Tashkent route will commence on June 1, 2026, operating twice weekly between the Omani capital and Uzbekistan’s capital. The service becomes the eighth new destination introduced by the airline since December, underscoring what it described as accelerated network growth.

The move strengthens air connectivity between Muscat and Tashkent, linking two capitals with historic ties to the ancient Silk Road and offering travellers access to culturally rich destinations.

Strategic expansion into Central Asia

Con Korfiatis, Chief Executive of Oman Air, said the new route aligns with the airline’s long-term commercial objectives.

“The launch of Tashkent reflects Oman Air’s continued focus on building a commercially sustainable network that balances point-to-point demand with strategic growth markets,” he said.

Korfiatis added: “Central Asia represents a region of increasing relevance for both inbound and outbound travel, and the new service is designed to support Oman’s broader tourism ambitions by attracting visitors from Uzbekistan and the wider region.”

The Muscat–Tashkent flights are expected to boost tourism flows, enhance business links and strengthen bilateral ties between Oman and Uzbekistan.

Supporting Oman’s tourism ambitions

By expanding into Central Asia, Oman Air aims to capitalise on growing travel demand while supporting Oman’s wider tourism strategy. The airline said the new route will provide Uzbek travellers with direct access to Oman’s cultural, heritage and leisure attractions, while offering passengers from Muscat convenient connections to one of Central Asia’s key hubs.

Korfiatis noted that the airline looks forward to welcoming Uzbek visitors to Oman and providing seamless access to Tashkent, describing it as one of the region’s most dynamic destinations.

The launch further consolidates Oman Air’s position as it continues to diversify its international network and tap into emerging markets beyond its traditional routes.
